This period of wind – and swell – less heat lasted for a whole month until at the end of June. Then finally a strong wind field settled over the North Sea and brought 25 knot winds to Denmark´s North Sea coast. The wind was coming from north-northwest which is perfect for the Sydmolen. I arrived there on Thursday morning and went windsurfing for 5 hours in perfect side-shore winds and waves up to 1.5 meters.
It was not as good as in the old days before the harbour extension, but wind- and swell direction provided some nice wave-sailing during the right tide. This place has been overtaken by kite-surfers nowadays and, to be honest, during most of the time the kite is definitely the tool providing the most fun here, but now it offered fine wave-sailing too.
I enjoyed it a lot and was out until a wave worked me in the early evening and made me aware about the complete state of exhaustion that my body had already entered. As I hadn´t bothered to bring a decent camera and was busy sailing during the best part of the day there are no photos showing the conditions that reignited my desire for wave-sailing. But believe me: it was fun!
