On the way back, Mini Capo was still doing its Pipeline mockery in the last light of the day and a longboarder caught a beautiful lefthand tube that unfolded in perfect form on the reef. What a perfect way to sum up this amazing display of Mediterranean quality surf provided by the Genoa Low!
As most mainland surfers were leaving now I decided to follow the advice of a surfer from Rome who told me where I could rent a room in town for little money. I was ready for a hot shower after all that time spent in the van with all campsites closed and a well heated living room sounded like a good idea too. So, I knocked at the door of this house in Mandriola where an old couple rents out the upper floor to visiting surfers.
The old locals were very nice and the room on offer within an apartment was ok despite the very old-fashioned furniture. The other guests were surfers too but left for dinner. So I had the kitchen and shower for myself and after a warm meal enjoyed a long hot shower.
