And this was “just” Mini Capo. The main break at Capo Mannu was visible from here too – normally you cannot see it until you walk up to the point – and it was going off the Richter. Massive waves were breaking over there with – how I thought – nobody out.

But then I spotted a tiny figure on a surfboard paddling in between these behemoths. I couldn´t believe it and immediately walked over to have a closer look.

And indeed there was a guy on a longboard out there at the main peak trying to catch some of the set-waves. This was no easy task as the peak was shifting and the waves started to break with a very hollow section. The stiff offshore didn´t help either and hindered him from dropping in on quite a few attempts. Positioning was crucial and risky as sitting deep enough to catch a wave also meant sitting too deep for the ones that swung wide.

I could sense the growing frustration of this lonely charger up to my standpoint on the cliff and therefor was really happy when he finally managed to catch one of the inside waves. He was pretty happy too and obviously gained new motivation as he paddled straight back out and went to position himself deeper again.
