[River Jam p4]

Blue: Did you organize something with La Santa for the winner? Does he only watch the contest                                                                  at Lanzarote or will there be a session together with the locals?

Boris: As we will have three winners we organized that all three can fly to Lanzarote. The boys will have fun and sure will come back to Munich super stoked. I don´t want to tell you more because it will a surprise for the guys. Wir haben jetzt ausgemacht, weil wir nicht nur einen Gewinner haben, das drei Leute fahren.

Blue: Did the city of Munich finally realize the value of river surfing fort he city´s image or do you have to pull it semi legal again?
Boris: No there won´t be a legalization by the city, but I´m sure that we won´t have any problems and if something goes wrong, we´ll be quicker at the party :=)

Blue: So, have fun at the event. I´m curious what we will get to see….

So, this is what happened:
It was 20:30 when huge spots put the Eisbach in glistening light for the 600 spectators and the 24 surfers. The riders from the Planet Sports Team, The Penis Triggers and the hosts, the FUS Crew battled it out in 2 heats lasting each 20 minutes. From each heat 5 riders made it to the final.
Already in the qualification heats it became clear that river surfing has evolved quite a bit since the Last River Jam in 2007. Besides fast turns with fat spray more and more skateboarding moves were shown as ollies and airs with and without grabs plus 180 ° and 360° jumps.
At 22:00 10 surfers plus one rookie had the honor to show their abilities. The finalists were Basti Klawiter, Gerry Schlegel, Tao Schirrmacher, Florian Kummer, Andy Jobst, Michi Mohr, Heiko Pfisterer, Florian Habla, Rainer Tögle ,Yoyo Terhorst and as rookie the „P“.
The riders surfed themselves in ecstasy. At the end Gerry Schlegel won the “Best Rider” award with his clean and powerfull moves and cool airs. “Best Run” was won by Tao Schirrmacher who had a dream run and managed to execute every trick and move with incredible precision. Flo Kummer, one of the founders of the FUS Crew, once again showed the spectators the future of river surfing. He won “Best Trick” with an incredible “Superman to Shove-it”.
