In November the three winners will be invited by La Santa Surf Company, the Canary Islands and Sands Beach Hotels to spend a week at Lanzarote during the 6 star WQS La Santa Pro.
Finally it was time for the last and most spectacular challenge. The best trick on the rail was about to be honored with the “Red Bull Sid Vicious Award” and 300 Euros in cash.
The 2,50m long rail was set up impressively in front of the riders. Now the 5 boys had to gain enough speed on the 4 meters run to jump on the 1,10m high rail, slide along the thin tube and land it clear on the wave.The spectators held their breath as the riders showed their tricks. Despite a foot injury, Flo Kummer dominated with Fifty-Fiftys and Lip Slidesand gained the “Red Bull Sid Vicious Award” and the cash.
But all injuries were forgotten when the party at the Netzer & Overath went off with free beer and the winners were honored with a beer shower and frenetically celebrated by the 150 guests. At the end, Boris Schmelz put it to the point: “ This was a great party with good friends, that wouldn´t have been possible without our partners Planet Sports, Rip Curl, Vans, Freistilreisen, Red Bull, the Blue Magazin, La Santa and the Government of the Canary Islands. They all helped evolve river surfing.“
