Back on the beach we had just enough time to take advantage of the well-developed beach infrastructure in this area and had some food at the beach-side café with a brilliant view on the point.

Jens left around noon and as I was still exhausted from the morning session I went for a walk along the cliffs to the point. I had another coffee and some cake at the environmental centre up at the cliff and admired – albeit with some horror – the blue squid sculpture made from trash collected in the ocean and at the beaches.

Back at the parking overlooking the beach and the point the tide had risen and the waves were less demanding now. Longboards were dominating a pretty busy lineup now. Aside from the crowds this was exactly what I was craving for. But, because of the crowds I decided to watch and learn more for the less crowded morning sessions which – according to the forecast – would come during the following days.

The swell was big enough to create waves at the point far into high tide, but these preferred more and more longboards now. Relief for shortboarders came when the reef plate further south suddenly created some juicy lefts.
