Friday, December 1st
It was still two more days to go for a presumably epic Sunday, but the forecast for Friday already promised a little taste of what was on the horizon. The morning started sunny and with a light north-westerly wind. Temperatures were in the low single digits. I once again felt a bit tattered, but nevertheless followed my routine of having a kick-starter coffee shortly before dawn and then check the waves. As I had spent the night in Mandriola again that swell check was just a short walk.
The swell was on and the winds were favourable and the lineup was still almost empty. But I was low on energy and had to go to the bar first. My standard cappuccino and brioches did wonders, and I now was ready to paddle out. As the main break already had filled up, I stuck to the reef / point further down. I still had the tendency to take off too deep here and therefore not making the fast first section, but I had a few waves.
