As the forecast for the north coast and the west fjords hadn´t any interesting swell / wind patterns on offer for the next couple of days, I was in no hurry and therefore planned to follow the rugged coastline of the north-eastern part of Iceland.

Still in hope to find some place where wind and swell cooperate I made a couple of stops at now already familiar places. There was more swell than yesterday but despite having weakened, the wind still messed up the waves. It was still raining once in a while so exploring some of the inland treasures of this coast wasn´t a real option either.

But the weather got better the further north I drove and when I passed the large wet lands of the Hamarsfjordur there was even the off glimpse of sunshine. At the end of the fjord I took the little detour to Djúpivogur. This small fishing town sits at another cape that guards the entrance into the Berufjördur which cuts deep into the coastal mountains.

The town itself has nothing particularly worth visiting but hosts a nice harbor and is surrounded by a fantastic mountain panorama. I parked my van near the harbor and took my bicycle for further exploration of the cape. The gravel road from the harbor soon turned into a footpath which was not always suitable for riding the bike.
