Thursday was the day when the next swell was supposed to arrive. It also was the day when the warm weather was going to end and the wind should turn west. The major weather changes were forecasted to happen around noon. I got up early and went straight to the reef. The offshore was still very strong and I decided to wait for it to back down.
At about 10 in the morning I finally paddled out to join a crew of six other surfers in the lineup. The sun was already disappearing, but the wind had dropped sufficiently and the first pulses of the new swell could be felt.
Set-waves were chest-high and fun rights and good lefts were on offer. It was a good session until a thunderstorm approached and lightnings chased me out of the water. Some heavy rain squalls crossed the lineup that was still hosting some nice waves until the wind finally turned onshore. The rest of the day was dominated by more thunderstorms, plenty of rain and a rapid drop of temperatures. But this nasty weather was due to last not very long.
