Back in Hamburg I nervously watched growing infection rates and tightening travel restrictions. I anxiously followed the wind and swell forecasts in the hope to get a chance to surf the North Sea before the borders to Denmark would close again. It would be the first time this year, a ratio that had been unthinkable since I started to surf here twentysomething years ago.
