Finisterre-2020-24h

I wondered how it came that De Gaulle baptised a monument in true 60-ies communist style but other wise was more interested in nature´s art in from of the cliffs and a bay in the distance at the base of the next headland. I headed over and stopped at the isthmus connecting the headland with the peninsula. North of the isthmus lay more cliffs, albeit far less spectacular ones than the ones at Penn Hir. South of the isthmus lay the beach I had spotted from Penn Hir.

It turned out to be a nice sandy beach within a beautiful bay with probably the easiest access on the west coast of the Crozon peninsula through a large parking right behind the beach. Judging from the many cars and vans with surfboards on the roof this beach was very popular with local surfers. There was a small swell running, and some guys were still out, but I deemed it not worth paddling out myself.

Instead, I drove back to Morgat and from here to my favourite bay. The sun was low already and so was the tide and I pitied it a bit being so late as some nice peelers were rolling in. But it was only my first day and I had plenty of more time to surf. Just after sunset I drove back to Morgat, parked the van on the camping car area, had some food and went to sleep early.
