It was half past midnight when I reached Nørre Vorupør where I wanted to spend the night. As it was still enough light for a swell check I headed to the parking at the harbour and found out that it had been turned to a construction site for another overly ambitious tourist project right underneath dune overlooking the sea and the town.

I found a way up the sandy hill and the seaward flank of the dune and had a beautiful view on the sea and the jetty. There already were some waves out there and the summer night sky was stunning, but I couldn´t stay up to enjoy the view for long because sand flies were eating me alive. I took a quick picture and the fled down back to the parking and left for my chosen location to spend the night.

The swell was due to arrive early Thursday morning with the 17 seconds pulse forecasted to reach Thy´s shores at about 8. I had pondered using the short midsummer night and getting up around 5 but had decided that 4 ½ hours of sleep were not enough. So, I put my alarm on a more human time and was up at 7. The obligatory coffee got my systems running and I walked across the dunes for a check. The swell had arrived, and the local sandbars handled it ok. I projected what I saw here to the reef further north and I very much liked the prospect.
