Splendid Isolation
I´m just back from a trip to England, something which is starting to become a ritual in this time of the year. May has proved itself over the past years as a good time to do a combined surf- / family trip to this otherwise rain blessed islands. Fairly good weather with plenty of sun, not too cold and the odd north swell combined with light or even offshore winds at the British North Sea coast were on offer again.
Timing was perfect, as the first 4 days I got some nice waves at the Yorkshire coast before I picked up my wife and daughter and went for some non surfer cruising. We had a good walk at the Hadrian´s Wall, a nice bicycle tour at the Lake District and plenty of cultural input in York, Durham, Oxford and Canterbury.
Back on The Continent we made a stopover in Brugge and just as we left the van, the rain stopped and the sun started to light this amazing town. Luck was with us the whole trip.
