[EWC p5] [EWC p7]

Fayçal Hmidi (captain of the team in last position)
The competition was a real good experience for the 5 Moroccan locals. Not the best ranking for my team but we have all sailed our best. I wish to see more of this event in the future here in Essaouira so we can improve again our level. The team concept is good because everyone of the team has to give his best on the water, it’s really motivating!

Boujmaa Guilloul (‘Best Team’, ‘Best Rider’ and winner of the ‘Best Move on the Jump Session’)
I could not really believe it for the ‘Best Rider’. I could maybe expect something like the 1st place for my team and for the ‘Best Move’ awards … But not the award of the ‘Best Rider’ as I don’t think I am the best among all these guys! I could have voted for Thomas for example! I wish we can do the same contest with the same ambiance and concept again next year. There were really some good vibes here in Essaouira, it’s cool to compete all together between friends as we all have the same goal: to have fun on the water! It was a good opportunity for the young local kids to see the international level, it gives them some more ambition. To express themselves and show what they are able to in front of all these pro riders is a great chance for them.

Graham Ezzy (Hawaii_part of the Winning team_1st participation on a Wave Classic and 1st trip to Morocco)
Normally in a competition, the point is to win and for everyone else to lose. This makes a lot of tension between the sailors. But in the team format, there are 4 other guys that want each rider to win his heat. It feels so good to have the support of the other guys. Morocco is a special place - the conditions allow down-the-line turns, tricks, and jumping.  So, a windsurfer can do everything here. And in the town, everyone is super nice. In the whole 2 weeks there, I did not see a single fight. In Hawaii, there is a fight every five minutes!
I was surprised at how well the locals surfed in
Moulay. I’m from Hawaii where surfing is everything, and these guys really had soul and threw good carves. They turned really top to bottom; I was impressed. My best souvenir on this event is the first day that we drove to the beach at Moulay. Every one of the pros was super excited to sail this new spot. The excitement was in the air, and I could see that all the guys really loved windsurfing. I love it when I see other people love windsurfing as much as I.           next page >>>
