We also got a deeper insight into the down sides of surfing in that part of the year. The days are already very short and it is a real task to spend the long dark hours in a van without ruining the following day by having a few too many beers with your buddies while waiting for the clock to advance far enough for going to bed.

Nørre Vorupør was our standard destination for south-westerly and southerly winds at that time and the weather was fitting into the expectations of this weather pattern too. It was constantly raining and it was grey in a very depressingway. Saturday morning started with clean south-southwest conditions and nice longboard lines at Nørre Vorupør. But soon the wind turned side-on to onshore.  Something we didn´t like that much anymore as we had tasted the formerly unthinkable quality of North Sea waves in the past months (even though we still didn´t have a clue HOW good surfing at the North sea actually cloud get).

We wanted it cleaner and more organised and a bit more powerful. And we weren´t satisfied with what the breaks near the jetty delivered. Nice for longboarding, but weak and we had a new favourite that we tried not to talk too much about (even though it never really was difficult to find): The Underground.
