Traffic in Tangier was chaotic, guys were yelling at us, wanting to sell things, policemen were whistling at us pretending we had neglected traffic rules. We had to get out of here.

We made it past Casablanca until we turned from the main road onto a dirt track, parked the van at the side of the track and went immediately to sleep.

August the 17th. We woke up quite early only to find out that we were already the attraction of the village. It seemed that every child in the near vicinity had come over to watch us strangers. Something that we also had to get used to: being THE attraction once we halted the van and immediately getting closely observed by the locals almost everywhere.

In the early evening we reached our first stop, Essaouira, the town mentioned in our book.
