But the sun was shining and whales were jumping and blowing of the coast and we found a nice place for breakfast in Isabela. We also managed to find “Shacks”, the windsurf spot Mr. Kalama had raved about. Two more friends from home arrived and joined us and we went for a windsurfing session near the beach we were staying at. At night we had a bottle of Baccardi with me having a bit too much of the rum which resulted in a terrible hangover.

Thursday Feb. 15th. I managed to cure the hangover and later in the day tried to surf in a rising swell with sets up to 3 meters. That cleaned at least the rest of the dizziness in my head. During the evening started what would become one of my main evening distractions for this and future stays on the island: I played an extended round of billards.
Friday, Feb. 16th. We moved into a new apartment right at the beach at Playa Jobos. This would become our home for the next 7 weeks. Not the worst place to stay, right at the beach with a nice right point break a few hundred meters to the right that was good for surfing and windsurfing during smaller swells and a restaurant above the apartment plus a very cool owner. The apartment was very basic but large enough to host 4 people and cost just 15 $ a day. That meant a very cheap accommodation at a really good spot.
I took advantage of this perfect place and went for a surf. Later in the day I drove to San Juan to pick up my girlfriend who was supposed to arrive early in the evening. She didn´t come with the announced flight and I had no idea where she was. I got a bit stressed by this but finally she arrived at one in the morning. We drove back and one the way the power steering of the car refused to work. Welcome to Puerto Rico! But I managed to continue the drive and we reached our home base at 4 in the morning.
Saturday was windless and we took it easy. At the evening a band was playing in the restaurant above us and we joined the party.
