Later that day we took a public car to Arrecibo. In a panaderia (bakery) we talked to the salesgirl about our search for a cheap car. Her mother was listening to our conversation and approached us, telling us that a friend of her might have what we needed. It sounded interesting and we arranged to meet the next day to have look. This option bettered our mood quite a bit and we returned to our shack light hearted. There we had a few more beers with our neighbours and once again somebody started to touch me. This time from the preferred gender but as I was not single I heroically resisted the temptation and stayed with the beer.
The next morning we were a bit hungover but managed to meet with the panaderia guy in time. The car looked ok so we bought it for 1,000 $. The guy who sold us the car was really nice and even offered us to lend us an old surf board for our stay. We gladly agreed! Happy to be mobile now we drove back to the beach, went for a quick surf and a first closer encounter with the local urchins, then packed our stuff and drove westwards.
Near Isabel we found another shack to rent, this time right at a beautiful beach. We took it and enjoyed the afternoon and a few sunset beers.
Wednesday, Feb. 13th. The night in the new shack had been a bit harsh. Mosquitos had plagued me all night. We also realized that the shack was pretty fucked up and inhabited by large spiders and numerous bugs.
