Puerto Rico had more than fulfilled our expectations with world class wave-sailing and surfing spots, constant trade winds and swell, all this with very comfortable temperatures. The north-western part of the island was very laid back, with friendly locals and a very relaxed mood. Vegetation is abundant and the crystal clear ocean hosted whales, flying fish, turtles and plenty more (just the urchins could have been fewer).
The culture melange of Spanish / Caribbean locals and many US-expats was exciting. This definitely is a little tropical paradise that we would visit again. So we felt a bit sorry to leave but on the other hand had plenty of exciting destinations before us. Back in Miami we would take our van and follow the gulf coast down to Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula before we would change coasts and visit the Pacific.
