The west coast: this part of the island has always offshore wind as the predominant trade winds come from the east / north-east. Once a solid swell is on the way this stretch of coast becomes a surferīs paradise with a mixture of beach breaks, reefs and that famous outside bombora “Tres Palmas”. No wonder this area attracts east coast surfers from the US since decades and has earned the island that “East Coast Hawaii” nickname amongst surfers too.

Wednesday, March 13th: Waves up to 4 meters and a gusty force 5 Wind were on offer. We tries to get out there but were once again shown our windsurfing limits. Or the limits of what Jobos can handle. So we drove to Shacks, where the waves were even bigger with up to 5 meters. The wind was gusty too and very light at the inside. The biggest sets were closing out. Very difficult to get out there but we gave it a try anyhow. I didnīt make it and got some serious beating but my buddy Christian managed to sneak out. In the late afternoon we hung out with some locals and celebrated the day with a bit of weed. At night I invited Claudia for dinner and afterwards we went to JDīs, THE bar in the area.

Thursday was calm with nice 3 meter waves still rolling at the north shore. We took it easy, walked the beach from Jobos to Shacks and finished the day with a barbecue with some friends.
