Sunday, March 10th. I went on a little excursion with Claudia to Aguadilla, Rincon, Mayaguez, San German and Ramey. That was very nice. At night we all went to a carnival in Isabela.

Monday, March 11th started with a stron cross-onshore north-westerly wind that turned to north and dropped to a barely sufficient force 4 to 5 at noon. The waves were pretty solid and I went for a try with the larger board and my trusty 5.4 sail that I had to get repaired a few weeks ago. The winds were light in the impact zone that in addition was plagued with strong currents. I almost made it out, but only almost and got hammered at the outer reef and my sail got torn again. Later in the day the wind died and the waves became pretty good.

Tuesday, March 12th we went to the west coast. We visited the “El Rincon” surf shop, drove to Punta Borinquen and watched in awe what as a large swell was breaking far outside, continued to Crashboat and realized that it was too crowded and too hollow (despite the smaller size of the waves here) for our rudimentary surfing skills, drove back north to Wilderness where it was big and finally got to Shacks. 3 to 4 meter waves were breaking here, some of them pretty hollow and a light force 4 to 5 wind was blowing. We pondered about going out here for some wave-sailing but then decided that we had broken enough gear already.
