Grande Plage:

Also called Plage Miramar. Right in the center of town, in front of the famous Grand Casino, there is a stretch of sand beach, boardered by a wide promenade. The beach is very popular with locals and tourists alike and therefore almost never empty. In fact, most of the time during summer itīs heavy crowded here. In the season parts of the beach have bathing zone restrictions. Donīt even think about getting there with your car īcause there is very limited parking space in this part of town. The only possibility to get near the beach with your car is the carpark under the casino. But it has limited height and isnīt quite cheap. Better park outside and take a little walk through town. Donīt worry, people hurrying through the streets with a surfboard under their arm are a regular sight here.

There is bars and restaurants and shops and whatever else you can think about around this beach. So you allways can combine a surf session with the shopping for dinner or a little lunch break. The ice cream parlour to the south end of the beach is VERY good. Just make sure to bring enough money. Thereīs nothing cheap around here....

surfing: the south part of this beachbreak receives some nice waves with swells from the west to the northwest. Winds from the east are best but the beach is protected from south winds too. If there is any waves breaking here, it will be crowded. The only option for empty lineups is surfing at night. Which is not that absurd, as the beach gets lit by the town lights.
