Klitmoller, quick info

climate:

rough northern climate, summers are moderate in temps with max. 25oC, spring and autumn are cold to cool with plenty of rain (and wind), winter is f#*$ing cold. Water temps between 5oc in winter and 16oC in summer. Wetsuits needed year round.

With about 20 hours of daylight in peak summer and only 5 hours in mid winter Your water time very much depends on the season.

wind:

Predominantly westerly winds with quickly passing depressions bring some of the best north sea wave sailing conditions, south to southwest are best for very good wavesailing. West comes cross onshore with good sized but in relation to the wind bad orientated waves. Best to start inside the bay with this direction. Northwest is plain onshore and no fun, north works again on the musselreef and when the wind turns northeast after a passing depression YouŽll get sideshore conditions from the right with clean waves on the musselreef again.

Conditions gan get really challenging (see picture above). Know Your stuff, when You want to go out.

Best season is from April to June and September to November. Winter sees a lot of wind but is too cold most of the times. Watch out for hurricanes coming from the east coast of the USA in August. When they make it across the Atlantic YouŽll have very nice storms in plain summer!

waves:

passing depressions bring windswell, sometimes northwesterly groundswells make their way pasr Norway. Waves can get size but usually are not too strong.
