Hvide Sande Fjord:

The Ringkobing Fjord is a large saltwater lake that stretches about 30 km parallel to the coast and reaches about 20 km inland. It is seperated from the open sea by a narrow strech of land covered with dunes. It never gets deeper than 3m and on many parts is used for farming mussels. The surrounding land is fairly flat with some small hills.

The area around Hvide Sande offers two possibilities to access the fjord. There are two places north and south of town where You can get wet. Both of them are sort of a beach park where You have to pay a small fee to park. They both have a windsurfing and kiteboarding scool, a shop, where You can rent and buy equipment, WC and showers, a little bar and most of the time a decent crowd of spectators to comment Your moves. Besides these places there is no other place at the westside of the Fjord where You can enter the water. Donīt even try to find one because itīs a natural reserve.

windsurfing: The Fjord is very shallow and for about 100m You can easily stand. That makes it a perfect place for beginners. The predominanty westerly winds come offshore and produce flat water at the beaches that help You to get really fast or practise Your manouvers and tricks without getting disturbed by the chop. Outside the chop gets bigger and helps You with little jumps or hinders You to gibe. With lighter winds from more northerly or southerly directions You can cross the Fjord for some Windsurf sightseeing. Easterly winds com onshore.

Kitesurfing: Like the windsurfers kiteboarding novices love the comfort of the shallow waters. You allways can get back to the beach by foot if necessary. Good place for advanced kiterboarders to practice new moves.
