Breiđárlón
This glacial lagoon is overshadowed a bit by nearby Jökulsárlón but also very well worth a visit. There are usually less icebergs on the lagoon and the outlet river is too long to let bigger ice blocks pass through to the sea. But the glacier comes down to the Breiđárlón lagoon with solid size and the almost vertical drop of the tongue provides an impressive vision.
Just in front of the end moraine lies a large parking and a visitor centre with a bar / restaurant as well as the offices of several providers of excursions on boat or foot to the lagoon and glacier. From here it is just a short walk up the moraine from where you have a brilliant view on the scenery. Please make sure to stay on the marked paths to prevent further erosion of the fragile vegetation on the moraine!
