On the parking I was greeted by herds of sheep who obviously just had given birth to numerous lambs, many of them still very wobbly on their legs. At a certain age (of just a few days) the lamb wore their wool in a very fashionable way resembling much to black stockings and a white coat. But sheep weren´t the only attraction here. On a small area, you find old mining buildings, abandoned granite quarries and stone age stone circles here, all accessible by just a couple of hundred meters of walking.
This I knew from my previous visit. Thanks to the absence of fog I discovered that there are also some interesting rock formations to discover. They added some extra surrealism to a landscape that already looks otherworldly due to the traces left by the quarries and the mining.
The icing on the cake was the sun slipping underneath the clouds in the evening and the hallucinating effect it had on the scenery. This show lasted for about 20 minutes and when it was over it was time for me to get back to the van and do the final driving to the coast to be ready for the swell that – hopefully – would arrive the following morning.
