So the only option was the harbour wall but soft and slow breaking waves were not what I was looking for, so I finished my visit at the stone setting and went back on the road to check some other places.
The coast is slowly but constantly bending further north here and the idea was to find that reef that might catch and bend the waves enough to turn them into rideable walls with not too much onshore wind on it. I had an idea where I might find this.
And indeed at my chosen place the wind blew side-offshore. But the swell was too weak / too much from the west to make it into the bay. All that was on offer was a mini slab at the reef on the south side of the little peninsula. So I continued driving further north. The options were driving back to the mushy break at the harbour and join the crowd or continuing searching up the coast in the hope to find a place that would catch the swell and transform it into something better surf-able.
On this mission I got a bit confused about the orientation of the coast and distances. I was looking for the part of the coast bending back south enough to catch some of the swell but all places I checked just had a stiff offshore and an absolutely flat sea. Having no decent map, it took me a while until I realized that I would have to drive at least another hour further up the coast until I would find something with a halfway suitable coastal orientation.
