I was really enjoying it when suddenly the wind dropped. The drop was so abrupt, that I wasn´t even able to water start. So, I was drifting just outside the impact zone for a while and already mentally prepared for a longer swim back to shore with some additional beating in the impact zone, when a final gust allowed me to get on the board and ride a wave back in. A fellow kite-surfer floating clos to me wasn´t that lucky as his tiny board didn´t float enough to allow him to use a wave to surf to the beach.
I now had to carry my equipment quite a bit back to the jetty but still was better off than the handful of wind- and kite-surfers who were stuck outside by the now light side-offshore wind. They had to swim for a while, but all made it back to the beach safely. Conditions were now perfectly suited for surfing and the outside sandbar acted as a fata morgana of former magic (see here what I mean), but it actually was only surf-able at the mushy inside.
