The pier was nevertheless very popular amongst fishermen. The Africans selling umbrellas, bags and other things liked it too. So did the surfers. The popularity of this pier amongst them might be by a big part caused by the very comfortable entrance into the lineup. Just before the bridgehead there is a platform just about a meter about sea level with a staircase leading down to the platform and even a ladder leading further down to the sea. Doesn´t get much easier to paddle out.

Probably because of this the peak besides the pier was the most popular. Despite being a fast, often too fast, wave with a very narrow take-off zone all the surfers out assembled here. Most rides were just a take-off too slow for the quickly closing wave. Just very few surfers managed to do a couple of turns. A couple of drop-ins happened and caused some hot blood. The outside peaks were left alone.

The wind had completely died off now and the waves became very clean. This attracted more surfers and the lien-up got more and more populated. Still everybody stuck to that one peak.

I returned to my van to see if the lack of wind and smaller swell had improved the waves down at the Marina.
