This has always been a region that was left a bit behind due to the secluded location and rugged landscape but I had the impression that the general economic stagnation in France has hit this region more than others.

But all this did not lessen my passion for this area. In contrary, I particularly like its remoteness and roughness and the unspoilt mentality and kindness of the people. The fact that everything is very reasonable prized here was a nice extra goody. I´d loved to stay here a little longer.

But as I my time was limited I decided not to paddle out into these – honestly exceeding my current surf ability and fitness – challenging conditions and instead drove to my favourite peninsula on the peninsula to have a final look at the point and the bay.

It was bright sunshine now and the cliffs were shining in bright colours. The pointbreak had the odd “it might get brilliant” set-wave but otherwise stayed asleep. The Goulien bay had travelling again swell lines and the beaches were probably having some fun waves. No more time to look, time to hit the road to Rennes.

But the prospect wasn´t that bad despite having to leave Finisterre. The upcoming week we would stay at Morbihan in beautiful Sainte Barbe. And the forecast promised more swell and more offshore wind and more sun.
