The beach in front of the campground did not manage to transform these lines into something surf-able. But the lines had enough size to make it worth to do some more checking. I drove over to the headland at the southern end of the beach and checked the little bay underneath it. The left-hand pointbreak that I had hoped to find didnīt materialize. But in front of the cliff at the end of the Pentrez beach a nice left and - a bit further north - a nice right were breaking. The waves were still very small but it looked surf-able with a longboard.

After a bit of hesitation, I suited up and grabbed my longboard to paddle out. No one else was out and the sea was sheer glass and set waves were breaking hip to chest high. I had a couple of nice rides before the tide got too high. That was an o.k. start into the day and I made myself a second breakfast in my van to fuel up my energy level before I went for the real thing, means the exposed parts of the Crozon peninsula.

To be honest I didnīt drive to the really exposed parts of the coast but had chosen Goulien, which is a bit more sheltered particularly from northerly winds. I drove to the northern end of the beach and was greeted by medium side-offshore wind, bright sunshine and the sight of clean lines rolling through the bay. Some of these lines were transformed into long rights by the sandbars and the lineup was empty. It did not take me long to make a decision. I slipped into my still wet wetsuit, added some wax to the longboard and paddled out.
