I paddled to the inside to get at least a few small ones but soon finished the session. With numb feet I walked back to the van, got out of all the neoprene and made myself a coffee to warm up. As this didn´t help much I decided to go for another walk and start with the steep ascent to the eastern cliffs.
Halfway up the cliff blood returned to my toes and even the sun appeared once in a while. The walk along the path on the edge of der cliffs was stunning. I left the path a couple of times to get on outstanding parts of the cliff where you have a better view on the foot of the cliffs and the shoreline. The tide was pretty low now and large part of the rock shelf lay dry. I sort of hoped to find a setup that worked with the low tide to produce some more rideable waves.
The wind had turned southwest and picked up force now but the swell stayed small – or maybe had diminished – so besides a few interesting looking reef setups nothing was really breaking.
I kept walking east for a while but finally had to give up the search. The tide would turn again shortly before the early mid-winter sunset. It would be pitch dark before it would reach the height that made the lefthander work. So I just enjoyed the scenery and returned to town.
