According to the forecast the wind should get pretty strong the next day and I speculated on a windsurf session. But before I had to find a place to spend the long evenings and night. I went to the “Worm´s Head” Hotel but they were closed due to plumbing works. The few B&Bs without a “no vacancies” sign were occupied by - you bet – plumbers. I tried to phone the Rhossili Bunkhouse but – like always – only reached the answering machine. I rang at the house of the old lady where we had spent a couple of nights past November and after a while she opened. The B&B was closed but she offered to rent a house for 70 pounds a night. That would have been o.k. with a bunch of friends but just for me that was too much money.

I became a little desperate now and drove down to Port Eynon. All the B&Bs and hotels were closed here too, so I walked out to the youth hostel at the point. It was closed too. Looked like I would have to spend the long evening in my van again, always threatened to get fined for illegal overnight parking. I went to search for a restaurant or at least a pub to get some food and at least spend the evening in the warmth preparing for the night in the van with some beers. All of them were closed.

I started to get pissed now. In fact, I became furious. I checked the forecast for the following days at the French channel coast ant there was some hope. I was out of here. I started the van and left the peninsula in anger. I put the pedal to the metal and headed east. The close I got to London the better became the motorway. Several lanes and very good surface made driving easy here and showed where the money goes. On the radio there was a broadcast about people who miraculously made it out of the debt trap. I had a quick stop at a service to take a pee and immediately returned to the motorway heading to Dover.
