Some of the incoming sets had decent size now, and with good timing you could place a soft turn at the round outside peak, slow down a bit and keep close to the peak until you reach the inside where two more turns were possible. The wave would have offered more than the one or two final turns if there weren´t the harbour wall interrupting the wave with the backwash and leaving too little room for wave-sailing further down the point.
In the early evening the wind started to drop and took windsurfers out of the equation. A lonely kite-surfer was still out benefitting from the combination of lighter wind and cleaner waves. But the real beneficiaries were the surfers – now out in a “crowd” of five – whose marathon paddling efforts now were rewarded with some very decent running rights.
It was nine-o-clock in the evening now and I had a frugal dinner and a beer whilst watching live-TV through the frame of the side door of my van. The point break show on offer was quite entertaining for a while, but then I felt the need to switch to another program and drove over to the lighthouse for a little late evening walk.
