The wind was a seemingly solid northwest here and I headed over to the point. Waves were small here, in the 1-meter range, which meant they were breaking very close to the stony shore. Nobody was out and it was difficult to judge the wind speed and resulting sail size due its side-offshore direction. I choose the 5.0 sail, rigged up and with a bit of flurry started the slippery dance of carrying board and sail over the round rocks to the little channel.
I made it there safe, watered the board and waded through the channel over more slippery submerged rocks to the shoreline where the wind starts to kick in. On days with bigger waves, it is kind of a gambling to pick the right moment to water start when gusts reach you and preferably a set isn´t closing the channel. With the current tiny waves close-outs weren´t an issue and I got going easily.
Again, mainly with bigger waves the next challenge is to avoid getting dragged by the current too close to the harbour wall where you face a combination of not enough wind and hefty lefts breaking.
