At the beginning the wind was a bit too light there but after a while it blew with about 15 to 18 knots, enough for the large wave board and 5.8 sail. It was an ok sailing session with even a few small waves to ride and good to get used to windsurfing again.
After the session and already on the way back I spotted some kites down at the ponds in the marshlands east of the Tharros peninsula. This looked like an alternative for windsurfing in lighter winds too and I mind-marked this place for closer examination sometimes later. Now I wanted to get back to the cape and see what was happening there with the now dropping wind.
Turned out that the swell was quite solid at the cape and the wind ok, onshore but still dropping in speed. The sea hadn´t really cleaned up but the cape gave some protection and – even more important – the trusty reef once again managed to give form to the breaking waves. A handful of locals was out catching a few good rides. It was far from the perfection I had witnessed the days before but definitely fun.
It was already late and I was still tired, so I watched the remaining hour until sunset and then drove to the nearest larger town for dinner. I really needed a pizza and a Ichnusa.
