The only downside of sitting in the lineup with a longboard are the odd bigger sets which break at the outer parts of the reef and have a habit to clean up the lineup further inside. But then, if you were patient enough, you could just sit outside and catch the bombs, provided you have enough experience and know where to line up in the void.

It had been overcast all evening but during the last hour of daylight the sun reappeared underneath the clouds and bathed the scenery in warm light. The backlit waves shimmered in light green and the swell still didnīt back away.

I did not miss the Atlantic at all in this moment. In fact, I hadnīt really missed it during the whole past week. This trip to the Mediterranean already had been a huge success, thanks to very active wind systems in the north-western parts of the sea and a coastline here at the Sinis Peninsula that was perfectly fitted to milk the maximum out auf local winds and the westerly swell. The local reefs had created some incredible waves and some excellent surfing and windsurfing throughout the past five days. I liked it a lot!
