According to this forecast the wind would increase in force soon. The size of the waves in combination with the ugly rocky shore still lead me to have much – maybe too much – respect and I was longing for a windsurf session, so I watched until the wind picked up and then went to search for a windsurf spot in hope to find a combination of side-shore winds and a decent right-hander.
As strong winds from plain north were not the standard setup here the usual windsurf spots would not be working and I had to do some exploration. I started my search at Su Pallosu but there the wind was onshore. Is Arutas was the next – and most promising – venue. The wind was perfectly side-shore here, but the waves were breaking wobbly with no form. I pondered for a while if it would be worth rigging up but then decided to move on.
Funtana Meiga had the wind blowing offshore – as expected – but the waves didn´t make it around the headland and my hope for getting a surf session here was not fulfilled. I moved on to San Giovanni de Sinis and visited the ancient church on the way to the beach. Again, the wind might have been ok for some windsurfing, but the waves were poor.
