Some sets of the swell managed to do the 90 degrees turn around the peninsula and reach the south-east facing beach. Waves did not have much power but lined up very nicely and created a long running righthander and a shorter left.
The wind was almost non-existent at the beginning and turned a light offshore breeze later in the afternoon. It was all very smooth and nice for some very relaxed longboarding. There were just a handful of surfers out, so longer pauses between sets did not bring too much hassle into the lineup.
Things at Mini Capo were a bit different. Waves had a very comfortable size and were breaking perfectly over the reef, with – as usual – the right being more consistent. The lineup was very busy. Besides the locals and the weekend-warriors from the island quite a few surfers from the mainland had obviously read the forecast properly and booked the ferry for a prolonged weekend on the island.
The crowd was a bit too hungry and many waves were wasted by – sometimes multiple – drop-ins. Things got even more complicated with that very agile longboarder, who was surfing extremely good but also was a bit greedy. He usually paddled back out in no time and took all the decent waves. Very little was left for the rest of the pack. But it was a pleasure to watch this guy surf.
