So, I was pretty excited when I got up at dawn. The wind was – as forecasted - very light and coming from the east. I drove straight to the cape. Big swell – for Mediterranean standards, but it would have been considered a solid swell elsewhere too – was running into the bay. But it was not really clean as the light wind was blowing sideshore here.

I went for a walk along the cliffs to have a look onto the northwest facing side of the peninsula, to be precise, a certain bay, but soon realized that it was too far to walk over there. So I returned to the van and drove for about 10 minutes to get there.

The sun had managed to push away the cool morning air now. It was very pleasant. The wind was a light offshore. I parked the van at the large empty beach parking which would be probably now already be packed if this were a summer day. During that parking process I could already see that there was some motion on the ocean. Up on the cliff I knew it was quite a bit of motion. In fact, the waves were massive.

O.k., I´m exaggerating. Massive maybe for what I considered Mediterranean standard. Probably bigger than the waves a week ago in Corsica. Very, very solid in any “real ocean” standards. And the light offshore bruised the swell into almost clean lines.
