That first ride was fun and I paddled out again quickly. Now the ocean went flat for quite a while before the next set arrived. It was a really good one and I had a ride on a long running shoulder-high left that was even more fun than the one before.
Unexpected surf sessions are always a gift and here I had that gift all for myself. So, I wasn´t too unhappy when the swell dropped rapidly and I finished the session. After a little snack I was ready to continue and started the van. To my shock the engine wasn´t running on all cylinders for a while and the display again gave warnings about an engine failure.
Obviously, the warnings before were not just mere wrong alarms by an aged electronic. I stopped the engine, opened the hood and fumbled a bit with the cables. Then I checked the oil and filled it up as it was at a low level. I also changed the once again broken fuse of the control device for my additional batteries. I started the engine again and now all seemed ok.
As the engine was running fine again I regained faith in my van. The surf had already been a very welcomed refreshment on the drive south which I now continued in a much more relaxed mood. At Castelsardo I got to see a nice sunset before the light faded. I still had quite a bit of distance to go and was pretty relieved when I could leave the windy country roads at Sassari for the motorway.
