Med-Hibernation-EP2-2-01h

I got up at 6:30 and was greeted with the same constant rumbling of crashing waves that had lulled me into sleep a mere 6 hours ago. It still was dark but the stars and the moon were visible which indicated a clear sky. Waves were still washing into and occasionally over the rocks bordering the parking. What was going on further out at sea I only could guess.

I had a coffee and a quick frugal breakfast and nervously waited for the darkness to vanish. Soon I could distinguish long lines popping up in areas where I they shouldn´t be visible. The break at the river mouth seemed to be washed out. The swell was still there and it was solid. Too solid for this part of the coast. I paid the parking fees and left straight for the motorway, heading further east on it and after half an hour of driving – luckily without being stuck in any traffic jams – took the exit before Varazze.

This way I would avoid the construction works further east and drive into town along the coast road and thus getting some early impression on what would be on offer. When I reached the beach promenade I took the first free parking lot on offer, grabbed my camera gear and went to walk to the main break.
