A local surfer was out and took one last wave before he returned to shore. Obviously the still rising tide was already too high for the breaks and I had arrived too late for a session, but at least I now had an Idea where to surf with the current conditions with small southerly swells and light northerly winds. I did a little walk along the coast to get a better idea of its surf potential and then drove to the campground close to the harbour where I set up my basecamp for the following days.

I did some well needed cloth washing and in the late evening walked down to the harbour to a very beautiful sunset around midnight.

Friday, July 28th

It took some time until my freshly washed clothes were dry enough to store them back into the bags. I had a lazy morning therefore and it was already close to noon when I finally left the campground and drove to the reef. It was a bit overcast now but with just a very light offshore and to my surprise there were some very decent waves breaking on the reefs.
