Ice-EP12-39h

The sky was cloudy now at the fjord and the wind had dropped significantly but still seemed strong enough to power a 5.0 sail. I really felt ready to get wet, so I drove to the little beach north of the small rocky peninsula and went for a flat-water windsurf session. The wind was just enough and it wasn´t a particularly thrilling sailing session, but in great surrounding. And at least I could claim having windsurfed in the Greenland Sea now.

It was raining all night until late morning. The sky was grey, but the wind had turned northeast, and I expected to find some surf later in the day when the wind was expected to drop and turn southeast. Just to make sure I had a look at the coast down at the harbour and got once again hassled by Arctic Terns. The beach down there was facing in the wrong direction but there were some waves coming in. Nothing really surf-able but – hopefully – a good sign for the better aligned parts of the peninsulas in the area.

I checked out of the camping and headed to the main road. On the way I spotted another little break which was – like so often on the island – inaccessible because the only way to get there was through private farmland.
