The view from up here was already fantastic and the birds added additional excitement. But II wanted to move a bit more so I continued the ascending path along the cliff until I reached a plain. At its western end there was another mountain ridge that cried to be climbed. So, I passed the plain and started the ascend. The path vanished into barely visible sheep tracks after a while and soon was completely gone.

From here I took the direct way up the steepening hill. The last bit was a bit tricky with plenty of loose stones plastering the mountain flank but with quite a bit off effort I reached the ridge. I continued following it upwards over a few rock steps further inland until I reached its highest point.

I was a bit exhausted now and happy to have brought some water and an energy bar in the backpack. But the pulse calmed soon and I could fully enjoy the brilliant view up there. To the west the steep rock flanks of the western islands were visible. To the south a succession of mountain peaks stretched along the narrow passage between the islands of Eysturoy and Kalsoy and the valley leading down to Gjógv lay sun soaked underneath me. More mountains to the west and the cliffs and the ocean to the north. It was well worth making the effort to get up here.
