But that westerly swell never materialized and in the late afternoon I gave up waiting and drove back to Nørre Vorupør. I was lucky to find a free space at the grass parking outside town and went for a check. Here the south-west wind pushed in some decent waves and a good force 6 to 7 wind was blowing side-shore. Perfect windsurfing conditions and a few guys were taking advantage of this and wave-sailing at the “Underground”.

I was a bit weary to join them as this would have meant carrying board and sail across the dunes as the parking in town was full. The left at the small jetty looked pretty nice too and there were just a few surfers out. So I decided to go for a surf session with my 6.5 fish which meant a lot less carrying. I didn´t regret it and had a few pretty long and almost punchy left.

Like so often in these conditions the waves got better and better in the evening and started breaking near the long jetty. A handful of guys were wave-sailing there now and had an excellent time until the sun disappeared at 10 p.m.

Sunday morning a light wind from the south was blowing, a bit of the south-west wind-swell was left and the left at the short jetty wasn´t too crowded. I immediately grabbed my 6.5 and went for a surf session. It wasn´t as good as the stormy one the day before but still fun. Later I changed to the Longboard and went out to the promising looking lefts close to the long jetty in the dying swell. These waves looked better than they actually were and so I quit in the early afternoon and drove back home to Hamburg, leaving behind a still hungry pack at the lineups. It wasn´t an epic weekend but I couldn´t complain. Wish summers would be more often like this.
