Friday morning, I woke up at 8.30. Later than planned and, as a quick first check across the dunes revealed, too late for a decent windsurfing session. The wind had already started to loose force and rapidly decreased. But there was still some swell and so I had a quick stop at the bakery and then drove north. My beloved Queen Of The Coast was my destination.

Half an hour later I passed the coastal dunes and reached the parking, like always anxiously waiting for the first view on the North Sea. I immediately realized that Her sandbanks were still rotten. Looks like She´s fallen in a long sleep again. But there was swell and the next jetty knew how to deal with it. In fact, the bank there was damn good and produced a very good right despite the still pretty dominant sideshore wind. Sometimes it even pretended to be Kirra´s little sister.

The windswell had the perfect direction for the banks and hit them with size and more power than expected. Surfing on your forehand was an advantage. At the beginning there was just one guy out and the lineup stayed fairly thin populated with a maximum of five guys until late noon. They had a lot of fun.

In the early afternoon the first week-enders arrived. According to the forecasts the swell would rapidly decrease from now on, so everybody scrambled into their wetsuits and paddled out. In fact, the swell had decreased a bit, but so had the wind and the result was cleaner waves with still the odd good sized set and a now more populated lineup.
