On the way back I passed the kite-boarding section of the beach. Just very few guys were out with their teabags and for once it looked like their tools were not the very best choice. They had a very hard time keeping their boards under control with that overdose of speed provided by the strong winds.

When I went out I soon realized that the wind also still meant an overdose of power for my 4.5 sail. Even in the area outside that usually has a bit less wind and that I often use for more controlled jibing the wind didn´t back off and my jibes were of that uncontrolled “Hail Mary” sort that most of the time ends in a water start, that was a mission by itself with an overdose of power in the sail.

I did a couple of runs and tried to wave-sail the pretty nice waves at the inside. Slowing down enough to hold position on the wave was a task by itself but the transition from keeping the sail open to pulling it tight for the bottom turn led into barely manageable acceleration. After a while I decided that it didn´t make much sense struggling with a sail at least 0.5 square meters too large. I finished the session and limped back across the stones to the beach.

I wasn´t satisfied yet but the wind made no motion in going down. Waves were pretty solid now and a growing number of surfers was out. I watched for a while and pondered paddling out myself but I do not like surfing here too much due to strong currents and weird braking waves. So I decided to leave and see if the spot from my morning check was still offshore.
