We also got a little nervous facing the check ins at the airport with our huge load of luggage and equipement. But our fears did not become reality as Ryanair handled that very easy, while other airlines are going to ban surfboard and windsurfboard transportation completely.

Three hours later we landed with our mointain of equipment in Glasgow, but with that we only had completed step one of the journey. Step two was the drive through the – untypically sunny – Scotish highlands along Loch Lomond to the small harbour town Oban, from where we were supposed to take the ferry. On that ferry they had reserved us a place, but just before our departure we couldn´t find our reservation.

At the end we managed to find a dot on the ferry at dawn after we had discussed the tricky booking system with the ferry staff at the local pub.

Without any wind – just as we had planned it – and on a quiet sea we were able to get the sleep that we missed last night until finally Tiree appeared at the horizon as a tiny dot. The dot wasn´t getting much bigger as we reached the harbour.

On our way along the curvy highlands streets Flo had given us some near death experiences but on Tiree we could lean back and relax because the single track roads made us almost forget the hazards of driving on the wrong side. Every attempt to let pass oncoming local traffic by getting into one of small passing places was hindered by the more than friendly and relaxed locals who insited on letting us pass. We got into island mood quickly and hectic became something unknown.
