Miloud Labdi (Captain of the team in 2nd position)
It was a real pleasure to be part of this event and to sail alongside the pros. It has given me more motivation to train harder to be part of other competitions. To be in a team with Thomas Traversa, Yann Sorlut and Jamie Hancock has been a great experience for me, these guys are really cool. Even if the conditions were not the best in Moulay, it’s a good thing that all these riders have discovered our spot. The ambiance between everybody was awesome and I hope everybody will come back for another 2nd edition of the Essaouira Wave Classic !
Abdelouahed Labdi (‘Worst wipe out’ winner and captain of the team in 4th position)
To win this ‘worst wipe out’ trophy means that I have gone for it, and tried to do my best ! The riders have seen today of what we are able to, and I promise that next year, if you guys come back, we’ll reach another level! I’m very happy also because Zane Schweitzer gave his own board to me before he left. A pretty cool thing as I broke mine during the contest! Wesh also gave me his wetsuit and his harness! Kai Katchadorian also have sold me some equipment but it’s like he has given it to me as it was so cheap ! Thanks a lot to everybody, this is so cool. I have lived 10 days I will never forget! This is just all about happiness…
Soufiane Sahli (captain of the team in 3rd position)
This is my 2nd competition after the one in Dakhla this winter, but it’s the 1st time I share an event with so many international sailors. This was a good experience to sail in teams too, it brings a good ambiance and we help each other. I wanted to show the best of my sailing and make good results with my team. As I saw the draw, I told myself that my team could finish 2nd or 3rd at the end of the contest. We are 3rd and I am very happy with this result. If I have one thing to remember on this event, it’s to have shared all these good times with all these international riders, especially the Hawaiians. It’s almost like a dream come true to have seen them here in Moulay! I’m here thanks to Fettah, my coach. I’m happy that he won the ‘best local award. He deserves it! If you come back next year, I’m gonna train hard to be on top so be sure I’ll get my team in 1st place ! See you next year!
